Who says girls just want to have fun?

They also want to work hard and be recognized for their accomplishments, and that’s exactly what’s happening at JSA Healthcare Corp. in St. Petersburg.

JSA Healthcare, which owns or is affiliated with 58 primary care centers and 8 pharmacies in Florida and voted Best Family Practice and Internal Medicine Group Practice in the Tampa Bay Area, is pleased to announce the appointments of Lorie Glisson to President and Chief Financial Officer and Angel Cortorreal to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Lorie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Florida State University, her Master’s in Accounting from Auburn, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Lorie began her career with JSA in 1995 as the Controller. Her talents, integrity, and strong work ethic were soon recognized by Gary Damkoehler, Chief Executive Officer, and Lorie was promoted through the ranks of Vice President of Finance, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President, and most recently, President and CFO.

“JSA is a company that allows ambitious, enthusiastic employees a chance to excel, to be valued for your ideas, and opportunities for growth surrounded by others with the same goals and work ethic,“ remarked Glisson. “JSA’s biggest assets are its employees. By establishing “win-win” relationships, our patients receive a higher degree of patient care, our employees receive above-market opportunities for compensation and advancement, and our business partners can also be successful.”

In addition to being a successful female executive, Lorie is also a wife and mother of two small children. “Balancing family and work is sometimes a struggle, but with flexibility, planning, and a focus on what is really important, it is possible to get it all done.”

Angel Cortorreal began her career with JSA in 1995 as the Director of Utilization Management. She is a Registered Nurse and is ABQUARP certified. Angel’s enthusiastic, can-do attitude, combined with her background in nursing and managed care, proved invaluable for a growing JSA and she too was recognized and promoted to Vice President of Medical Management, Senior Vice President, and now Executive Vice President and COO.

“I am very proud to work for a company whose mission is to provide high quality healthcare to the senior population. JSA’s care delivery model seeks to improve the day-to-day health and primary care access of its patients. It is very rewarding to know we are making a difference in the lives of seniors,” stated Cortorreal. My motto has always been, “To treat my employees and patients like I would want to be treated – with respect, loyalty, and dignity.”

And how does Angel balance a successful career with her family life? “As busy as life gets sometimes, I always make an effort to spend time with my family, away from work and my cell phone. It’s important to establish priorities at work and at home in order to achieve a comfortable balance.”
