JSA
Healthcare Corporation
ANNOUNCES
CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP
St. Petersburg, Florida – JSA
Healthcare Corporation, which operates or is affiliated with 69 primary
care centers and 8 pharmacies in Florida, voted Best Family Practice and Internal
Medicine Group Practice in the Tampa Bay area, and ranked the 31st
largest privately-held company in the Tampa Bay area, is pleased to make
the following announcement:
Effective March 1,
2006, Lorie Glisson became the first female President and CEO of JSA
Healthcare Corporation.
And is the fact that
she is a female, the only significant part of this story? No. Lorie is not
only a young female executive, but she is also only the third President
and CEO in JSA’s 37-year history.
Lorie
began her career with JSA in 1995 as the Controller. Her talents,
integrity, and strong work ethic were soon recognized by Gary L.
Damkoehler, former President and CEO, and Lorie was promoted through the
ranks of Vice President of Finance, Senior Vice President, Executive Vice
President, and President and CFO.
She
holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Florida State University, a
Master’s in Accounting from Auburn, and is a Certified Public
Accountant.
When
asked about her goals for JSA, Lorie replied, “I want to help JSA
continue to grow and prosper, not just in the Tampa Bay and Orlando areas,
but in strategic markets across the United States.
Healthcare is an extremely fast-moving, exciting place to be.
Today’s issues may not be tomorrow’s.”
“I’m
proud to work for a company whose model of patient care delivery focuses
on the relationship between the patient and their doctor.
The value of centralized and frequent communication between the
patient and the care team can’t be undervalued.
For JSA, keeping its patients healthy and out of the hospital just
makes plain sense.”
While
JSA’s heart may lie in its commitment to provide quality healthcare to
its patients, the key to JSA’s growing success is in its entrepreneurial
spirit – the ability of its leadership to identify new growth
opportunities and to have the courage and capital it takes to act on those
opportunities.
JSA was founded in
1969 as John Short & Associates, Inc., and quickly became one of the
top five hospital consulting firms in the United States. In 1986 JSA began
providing primary healthcare services, changed its name to JSA Healthcare
Corporation in 1990, and in 1993 entered the private sector healthcare
field when it signed a contract with Humana, Inc. to operate primary care
centers for HMO enrollees. Fast
forward to 2006, and JSA now owns and operates 27 primary care clinics, 8
pharmacies, and has affiliations with 42 other primary care offices in the
Tampa and Orlando market areas with 106 physicians and over $212.6 million
in revenue.
Gary L. Damkoehler,
JSA’s former President and CEO, will continue on with JSA in a strategic
leadership role as Chairman of the Board.
