Triage Nurse – PRN Pool
Candidates
for this position must meet the following requirements:
REQUIREMENTS:
¨
Possess
a current and valid LPN or RN Florida state license; CPR certification or
ability to obtain it within 60 days of employment
¨
Strong
working knowledge of Triage nursing principles, theories and practices
¨
Telephone
triage experience a plus, with strong patient assessment skills
¨
Ability
to provide on-site emergency treatment within scope of practice
¨
Ability
to take vital signs, perform approved clinical tasks including but not limited
to: Evaluating patient needs, performing
emergency triage, administering prescribed medications, assisting physician
with examinations and treatments, preparing and applying dressings and
performing wound care; instructing patient in health measures and self-care,
changing Foley catheters, and flushing ports (or be willing to learn).
¨ Ability to perform telephonic triages
with follow-up
¨
Five
years of acute care clinical experience preferred
¨
Knowledge
of and must abide by the nursing professional standards of documentation
¨
Knowledge
of medical equipment and maintenance
¨
Ability
to communicate effectively with patients and all levels of personnel in a
professional, courteous and effective manner using excellent customer service
skills
¨
Ability
to be a clinical resource for non-licensed office staff (i.e., Receptionist,
MA, MRC, Referral Coordinator, Lab MA, Center Administrator)
¨
Computer
literate
¨
LPN’s: Must possess IV Certification (or ability to obtain and perform within
90 days of hire)
¨
Ability
to multi- task in a high paced environment with good organizational skills
¨
Knowledge
of HIPAA regulations
¨
High
school graduate, GED or equivalent
¨
Ability
to read, speak, write, and understand the English language fluently
¨
Ability
to travel is required

Bilingual

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for timely, efficient, and accurate
triage response and documentation according to Nursing Standards & JSA
protocol. Under direction and supervision of a
physician, evaluates patient needs, performs triage, and administers prescribed
medications. Assists physician with examinations and treatments, prepares and
applies dressings and performs wound care. Changes Foley catheters, flushes
ports (or is willing to learn) and insertion, flushing and monitoring of
intravenous infusions. Instructs patient in health measures
and self-care. Provides treatment and other patient
services within their scope of practice in the ambulatory care setting. Maintains accurate and
concise clinical documentation within the medical records assuring compliance
within all guidelines. Participates in health
promotion activities. Assists the PCP and Case Manager in the monitoring and planning of
care for the low acuity members of the High Risk Program and/or Disease
Management Programs. Maintains an active nursing appointment schedule for assisting the
PCP in the monitoring of members’ healthcare needs which may include but are
not limited to B/P checks, wound care needs, nebulizer treatments, and health
care education. Responsible for oversight of the
Coumadin Log Process. Assists the Case Manager & PCP in the follow-up management of
post-hospitalized or post-emergency room visits. Acts as the clinical
resource for the non-licensed office personnel. Assures
adherence to HIPAA and ACHA regulations. Other duties
as assigned.
