Triage Nurse RN / LPN - ORLANDO

POSITION SCOPE:

The Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse is responsible to the Center Administrator and assists, under the direction of the physician, in the provision of direct patient care in accordance with JSA Medical Group protocols, established standards of nursing scope of practice, and FL State licensure regulations.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

¨       Possess a current and valid LPN or RN Florida state license; CPR certification or ability to obtain it within 60 days of employment.

¨       Five years of acute care clinical experience preferred.

¨       LPN’s: Must possess IV Certification (or ability to obtain and perform within 90 days of hire).

¨       Strong working knowledge of Triage nursing principles, theories and practices.

¨       Ability to provide on-site emergency treatment within scope of practice.

¨       Ability to take vital signs, perform approved clinical tasks within LPN/RN scope of practice. 

¨       Ability to perform telephonic triages with follow-up and strong patient assessment skills.

¨       Knowledge of nursing professional standards of documentation and ability to document legibly.

¨       Ethical in words and actions

¨       Knowledge of medical equipment and maintenance or ability to learn.

¨       Ability to communicate effectively with patients and all levels of personnel in a professional, courteous and effective manner using proficient customer service skills.

¨       Display professional attributes through appearance and interactions with staff and customers. 

¨       Must be a team player.

¨       Ability to be a clinical resource for non-licensed office staff.

¨       Computer literate.

¨       Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment with good organizational skills and attention to detail while maintaining the ability to prioritize.

¨       Must be able to display accountability and dependability when carrying out assigned duties on a daily basis.

¨       Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

¨       High school graduate, GED or equivalent.

¨       Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the English language fluently.

¨       Ability to travel may be required

¨       Must have consistent, punctual and reliable attendance

¨       Bilingual a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for timely, efficient, and accurate triage response and documentation according to Nursing Standards & JSA protocol.  Under direction and supervision of a physician, evaluates patient needs, performs triage, and administers prescribed medications. Assists physician with examinations and treatments, prepares and applies dressings, and performs wound care. Changes Foley catheters, flushes ports (or is willing to learn), and inserts, flushes, and monitors intravenous infusions. Instructs patient in health measures and self-care. Provides treatment and other patient services within their scope of practice in the ambulatory care setting.  Maintains accurate and concise clinical documentation within the medical records, assuring compliance within all guidelines. Participates in health promotion activities including education of patient plan of care, medication instructions, preventative services, diet and exercise, and all other medical needs as directed.  Assists the PCP and Case Manager in the monitoring and planning of care for the low acuity members of the High Risk Program and/or Disease Management Programs.  Maintains an active nursing appointment schedule for assisting the PCP in the monitoring of members’ healthcare needs, which may include but are not limited to, B/P checks, wound care needs, nebulizer treatments, and health care education. Responsible for oversight of the Coumadin Log Process.  Assists the Case Manager & PCP in the follow-up management of post-hospitalized or post-emergency room visits.  Acts as the clinical resource for the non-licensed office personnel. Assures adherence to HIPAA and ACHA regulations. Other duties as assigned.
